Two Brothers Found Shot Dead

Two brothers were found shot dead in Epping last night.

Police would not say if it was a murder-suicide, but shocked neighbors said they believed one of the men shot the other before turning a gun on himself.

The men, 22 and 24, were found about 6pm in the garage of a house in Narina Way.

Police said the circumstances were not clear, but it was believed both had gunshot wounds. They did not say what type of gun was used.

Neighbors who gathered in the street last night expressed shock at the shooting, saying the family kept to themselves and regularly attended church.

Michael Ferrante, who lives nearby, said he worked with the dead men, Wilfred and Michael Nido, and their father, in the family's bed-frame and pallet business.

``They were pretty quiet and kept to themselves," he said.

``They never really hung around with anyone in the street." He said the brothers, who had attended the nearby St Monica's College, often spent time in their garage, playing music and restoring cars.

Another neighbor, who asked not to be named, said the family hunted regularly for ducks and rabbits.

``Their dad used to go fishing, as well," he said.

Florence, who asked that her surname not be used, lives a few doors away, but said she heard no signs of trouble yesterday afternoon.

``I took my son to the park about 5.30pm and we didn't hear a thing," she said.

``The neighbors are all shocked. They're respectable people, they go to church."
